Large is a little too small. Size up xl fits me well.
I have tried a number of mountain biking shorts and still haven’t had any luck. These are the closest I’ve come! Great waist band that was comfortable and made for a good fit. And the rise was high enough that it actually covered my bottom comfortably! Unfortunately the size 10 was just slightly too big. Like barely too big, but enough that I didn’t keep them. I also think I may prefer a shorter length. For reference, I am 5’ 6” and 162lbs and typically wear a size 30 waist/size 10. I loved the shorts so much, though, that I turned around and ordered three more pairs to try! I got the same ones in a size 8 and I ordered the 7” inseam shorts to try in both an 8 and a 10. Crossing my fingers for a winner! I’m super optimistic because I really liked the feel and comfort of the shorts, and I also love the gloves I bought from Cognative for myself and my two kids.
